Rough, dry and dark elbows: how to soften them

Rough elbows and dark elbows usually go together: thick, dry skin holds on to dead cells, which look darker and feel like sandpaper. Softening the skin is the first step to a more even colour.

Why elbows get so rough

  • Very few oil glands
  • Constant bending and leaning
  • Hot baths and harsh soaps
  • Dry winter air

Soften in 3 steps

  1. Exfoliate gently: at night, spray the 5% Glycolic Acid Toner on clean, dry elbows.
  2. Lock in moisture: apply a thick cream or a little body oil on top.
  3. Repeat: every other night for 2 weeks, then nightly.

Winter tips

  • Use lukewarm water, not very hot.
  • Moisturise within a few minutes of bathing.
  • Choose a mild, moisturising soap.

What to expect

Noticeably softer elbows in 1 to 2 weeks; a more even look in 4 to 8 weeks. Skip glycolic acid on cracked or bleeding skin until it heals.

Roman Urdu

Khushk aur khurdari kohniyon ke liye raat ko glycolic toner, phir moti cream ya thoda tel lagayein. Garam paani kam karein aur nahane ke foran baad moisturiser lagayein.
