What causes open pores? 6 reasons pores look bigger
Share
Pores look bigger for six main reasons: oil, clogging, heat, sun damage, age and genetics. You can't change genetics, but you can control the other five, which is why the right routine makes pores look much smaller.
1. Excess oil
Oily skin stretches the pore opening and adds shine, so pores look larger. Fix: niacinamide and zinc to balance oil.
2. Clogged pores
Oil and dead skin fill the pore and darken it. Fix: salicylic acid a few nights a week.
3. Heat and humidity
Pakistan's summers boost oil and sweat. Fix: light, oil-free products.
4. Sun damage
Sun weakens collagen around the pores, so they look looser. Fix: daily sunscreen.
5. Age
Skin loses firmness over time. Fix: sunscreen and a good routine slow this down.
6. Genetics
Some people simply have larger pores. Care makes them look smaller but can't change their size.
A simple routine
- Gentle gel cleanser morning and night.
- 2 to 3 drops of a pore minimizing serum, such as our Pore Minimizer Serum (10% niacinamide + 1% zinc), morning and night.
- 2% Salicylic Acid Serum 2 to 3 nights a week if pores look clogged.
- Oil-free moisturiser and sunscreen.
Less shine in 1 to 2 weeks; smaller-looking pores in 6 to 8 weeks.
Roman Urdu
